Dr. Kannaday has been pursuing her passion of outpatient psychiatry since 2014, combining her psychotherapy specialty with exceptional medication management.
Melissa Harris Kannaday is Board Certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is highly experienced in acute adult inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, including psychopharmacological medication management and psychotherapy, in addition to the treatment of women’s mental health. Dr. Kannaday has previously served as the medical director of a psychiatric hospital and the director and treating psychiatrist of a partial hospitalization & intensive outpatient program.
Highly sought-after as an expert in her field, Dr. Kannaday is known equally for her warmth and compassion. Dr. Kannaday earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and her M.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She is published in Current Psychiatry Reports, International Journal of Eating Disorders, & Hot Topics in Neurology and Psychiatry.
Dr. Kannaday does not participate in any insurance plans in order to provide a highly personalized, confidential, therapeutic experience that is impossible within the confines placed by insurance companies. She believes it is important that you are given time to share your symptoms and stressors without feeling rushed or pressured. As a result, an appropriate treatment plan can be formulated with you at each visit, and you are met with an elevated care experience.
